Takashi Murakami Announces Limited-Edition Prints in Support of Black Lives Matter

Takashi Murakami has put together a limited-edition collection of prints inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement. Releasing in July via the NTWRK app, all proceeds from the sale will be donated to multiple U.S.-based organizations fighting for racial justice and social equality.

The collection includes six various black screen prints, with each limited to 300 editions. All employ Murakami’s iconic flower and skull designs and will be signed and numbered, finished with spray paint from Murakami himself. Proceeds will be split between Black Lives Matter, Equal Justice Initiative, and Color of Change, with the prints expected to raise over $1 million USD in charitable contributions.

“I have said that a role of an artist is to discern the present and express it for the future audience,” Takashi Murakami shared. “But if my art can effect any change here and now, I want to contribute it not only to give back but to give power to the Black community plagued by the racial injustice.”
